Rain stopped weeding, pruning and planting on Saturday morning but Sunday was clear and bright and we were finally able to carry out a tidy up of Mike’s Circle (In front of St Nicholas’ Church, on Bayswater Road). Finally we were able to plant quite a few primulas – beautiful jewel colours, which certainly brightens up the area.
It was a busy few hours but well worth it. Thank you to the gentleman who donated and to those people out walking who stopped to chat.
We look as colourful as the flowers in our hi-viz jackets!
Can you help us?
Every time you shop in Tesco at Bidston Moss, until 30th April please can you put your tokens in the ‘WVIB’ slot. If we manage to get the most tokens, we will then be eligible for money towards the “Floral Trail” which we are hoping to implement later this year.
We hope you can help!
It’s a beautiful day in spring time! and some of the team have been up at Wallasey Village Library this morning tidying, weeding, pruning and planting.
Thanks to all the passers by who thanked us for Making our ‘Village Smile with Flowers’.
It was a question of third time lucky! We’ve had to rearrange our planting programme due to the snow and general bad weather. But finally this morning we were out early and with volunteers to make the Village look bloomin’ beautiful and colourful with lots of primulas. A big thanks to Stollies Café for providing us with hot drinks to keep out the cold. Quite a few local businesses ‘sponsor a planter’ and we thank them and our volunteers for their continued support.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday night when we’ll be discussing our summer planting programme, if you have any thoughts or suggestions please let us know.
We hope you like the finished planters.
This is a first for Wallasey Village in Bloom. We are now appearing on bus shelters. I suppose all advertising is good advertising!
Early December B & Q donated a small Christmas tree which we planted up and situated at the end/start of the dual carriageway in Bayswater Road and it looked great.
Today, we replanted it where the large 25ft Christmas tree had been. We’ll have to see how it gets on but it is rooted so hopefully by 2025 it’ll be magnificent!
Thank you to everyone who voted for us. We found out in November that we were finalists and this week it was confirmed that we were successful in our bid.
The money we receive from AVIVA Community Fund will go towards making Wallasey Village Train Station ‘Smile with Flowers’.
