This is a first for Wallasey Village in Bloom. We are now appearing on bus shelters. I suppose all advertising is good advertising!
Early December B & Q donated a small Christmas tree which we planted up and situated at the end/start of the dual carriageway in Bayswater Road and it looked great.
Today, we replanted it where the large 25ft Christmas tree had been. We’ll have to see how it gets on but it is rooted so hopefully by 2025 it’ll be magnificent!
Thank you to everyone who voted for us. We found out in November that we were finalists and this week it was confirmed that we were successful in our bid.
The money we receive from AVIVA Community Fund will go towards making Wallasey Village Train Station ‘Smile with Flowers’.
Thank you to everyone who came out on such a cold evening for the Wallasey Village in Bloom Christmas Tree lights switch on! Over fifty Wallasey residents came out to support our event.
It wouldn’t have been possible without the on going support and sponsorship from local businesses: MP3 Media Limited (Marc Price), Gray Black Limited (Susan Brassy), West Wallasey Car Hire and Neil Broster from NSH Solutions Limited who was kind enough to also switch on the lights!
We had Christmas tree baubles for the children to place on the Christmas tree, hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies too.
Our on going thanks to everyone who supports us; from local residents, volunteers, Wirral Council, Caroline Laing, Michelle Gray, Wirral Council’s Parks and Gardens and not forgetting the Bloomers!!
Although it was very cold at least the weather wasn’t as bad as last year when our Christmas tree was put in place today! A huge thanks to Robbie and his team of seven from Wirral Council’s Parks and Gardens who came and spent a couple of hours getting our tree up and looking good, not an easy task when it’s 25ft!
The lights will be put up tomorrow and the ‘switch on’ will be this Friday 1st December at 5pm at the corner of Bayswater Road/Harrison Drive. Everyone is welcome so please come along if you can and support us but wrap up warm! Refreshments will be provided and there will be Christmas tree baubles for the children to put on the tree.
This will be the third year running that we’ve organised a Christmas tree at the corner of Harrison Drive and Bayswater Road and it’s our biggest ever yet standing at 25ft!
The switch-on of the lights will be this Friday 1st December at 5pm. There will be festive treats available: mince pies, mulled wine, with tea and coffee available to keep out the cold! there will also be snacks for children.
Please come along and support us on the night. We look forward to seeing you there!
We were thrilled to receive the Silver Gilt Medal Award at the Royal Horticultural Society’s North West ‘Britain in Bloom’ Awards, in the ‘Best Large Village’ category at a presentation ceremony held on Friday at Southport Theatre.
It wasn’t something we expected to win and we had an amazing day. We’ve worked incredibly hard this year to get the village blooming!
The Bloomers, Michelle, Suzi, Anne, Leah and Val would like to say a huge thank you to everyone. We couldn’t have done it without the backing from local businesses, supportive comments and donations from local people – which kept us going! and some lovely enthusiastic helpers who have been amazing and just got stuck in when we needed more help.
This is the first year Wallasey Village in Bloom has entered the competition and we are now looking forward to next year and what we can achieve and are already thinking about creative ideas we can come up with to wow the judges next time!
